Description Fluanisone is a medication belonging to the butyrophenone class, which serves multiple purposes in the field of medicine. The synthesis of fluanisone involves several chemical reactions. One of the key steps in the synthesis process is the reaction of aluminum chloride, carbon disulfide, fluorobenzene, and γ-chlorobutyryl chloride to obtain γ-chloro-p-fluorobutyrophenone.

Uses

Fluanisone is classified as a typical antipsychotic and sedative. It is primarily used for the treatment of schizophrenia and mania. Fluanisone also has applications in veterinary medicine. It is used in combination with the μ-opioid agonist fentanyl, primarily as a veterinary anesthetic. Fluanisone is known for its sedative properties, which can help calm individuals with agitation and certain psychiatric conditions. Additionally, as an antipsychotic medication, it can effectively address the symptoms associated with schizophrenia and related disorders.
